Fencing in Owens Cross Roads

On the far side of our namesake mountain, Owens Cross Roads and Hampton Cove sit where the valley floor meets real slope — which makes for the prettiest lots in the county and the most interesting fence lines we build.

Fencing on grade is a craft problem

Flat-yard fencing is production work; the lots climbing toward the mountain are something else. A fence line dropping eight feet across a backyard has to be either racked — panels angled to follow the slope in a continuous line — or stepped, each section level with a clean drop between. Racking looks seamless and suits wire and aluminum; stepping suits wood privacy and reads intentional when it's laid out well and amateurish when it isn't. We decide per run, sometimes mixing both on one property, and we show you the layout before anything is set. Slope is also where cheap fencing goes to embarrass itself, so this is the corner of the county where our measuring tape earns its keep.

The dig hits rock out here

The mountain's foot keeps its limestone shallow. Post holes that auger clean in Harvest's fill dirt hit rock two feet down in parts of Hampton Cove and the Cove-side streets — and a post sitting on rock it can't get through needs a different footing detail, not a shrug and a shallow set. We bring the rock tooling, adjust the footing where the ground demands it, and the quote accounts for it honestly rather than "discovering" it as a change order on day two.

Don't fence off the reason you bought the lot

Half of Hampton Cove's appeal is looking at the mountain or the golf course, and a six-foot privacy wall spends that view to contain a beagle. This is aluminum country: open-picket aluminum fencing holds pets and kids, satisfies pool codes, meets the neighborhood aesthetic boards' taste, and keeps the scenery you're paying property taxes on. Where privacy genuinely matters — a patio corner, a hot tub — we'll mix a short solid section into an otherwise open perimeter. The fence should serve the lot, not fight it; repairs on existing slope fences work the same way.

Slopes, rock, views — quoted like we've met them before.
